THINKING caps were put on by youngsters for a successful schools event.

The second Rotary Club of Troon Primary Seven School Quiz was held on March 14 and organisers are grateful to Muirhead Primary School for hosting the event.

All the schools selected to compete feed into Marr College and this event gives the children the opportunity to meet up with each other before starting the senior school in August.

Competitors were: Barassie, Dundonald, Muirhead, St Patrick's, Struthers and Troon Primary Schools.

Each team was made up of four pupils plus one reserve with the quiz comprising six questions to each round with 10 rounds covering the topics of Geography; Famous People; Music; Logos; Literature; Numbers; Current Affairs; Scotland; Spelling and World Landmarks.

A fiercely contested event ensued with the children focused on achieving the best result for their school.

This year Barassie Primary School with a score of 49-60 were the champions - closely followed by Dundonald and Troon. Barassie were presented with individual medals and a team trophy by Rotary President George McLachlan with all the participants being presented with quiz certificates.

This year the quiz was notably different, as it was put together and run by a team of Sixth Year girls from Marr College.

They chose the categories, prepared the questions and delivered a Powerpoint presentation with a high degree of professionalism and they are undoubtedly a credit to themselves, their families and the school.

Troon Rotary are grateful to Marr College for permitting the 6th year pupils to be involved and would very much like the school to take an instrumental role in future.
