Central Ayrshire MP, Brian Donohoe, was full of praise for his supporters and staff during the count.

The Labour politician, who described himself on the night as "one of the best MP's in Central Ayrshire" won with a 12,007 majority, receiving 20,950 votes.

During his victory statement, Mr Donohoe said: "I have been a member of parliament for the last 15 years. My priority is to be a good local MP. I am grateful to all the constituents, not only those who voted for me, but to all those who have come out and voted. I applaud them and give them my promise that I will do my best for them."
