CARRICK residents have been given the opportunity to view plans of a multi-million pounds roads upgrade.

Just over 4 kilometres will be 'improved' along the A77, between Littleill, just north of Girvan and Downhill, south of Turnberry.

According to Transport Scotland the scheme will not only mean new areas to overtake but will also reduce the number of otters and badgers killed by creating 'dry tunnels'.

The £9million proposals will also see the roads being widened and a pedestrian footway and cycle track along entire 4.2km length.
