BRAVE staff at a pet store in Ayr managed to trip an alarm and scare off a potential armed robber.

Staff at Pets at Home in Allison Street were closing up around 6pm last Tuesday night when a man entered brandishing a knife or similar weapon to staff.

He demanded cash but staff managed to raise the alarm and the robber left before any cash was handed over.

Although unhurt the workers were understandably left shaken.

The thug is described as white, roughly 5ft 6 in height, in his mid 20s and wearing a light blue hoody and dark jeans.
