People power in Carrick

FORMER Girvan Community Council chairman Alec Clark took the council elections by storm on Thursday winning by a landslide.
In a backlash against the closure of Girvan swimming pool all three political parties, Conservatives, Labour and SNP, saw their proportion of the vote fall by over 10 per cent at last week's council election for Girvan & South Carrick with Independent candidate Alec Clark receiving almost 1,000 more first preference votes than any other candidate.
Mr Clark hailed the result a 'landslide' and said the people of Girvan and South Carrick have given him a 'power base and mandate' to take their views into County Buildings and help shape the future of the region.
