Knocked down girl at pelican crossing

A VAN driver drove through a red light and mowed down a teenage girl at a pelican crossing.

Depute Fiscal James Kelman told Ayr Sheriff Court last week that the 18-year-old was using the crossing in Maybole High Street near Somerfield at 4.30pm on April 7 when she was struck by a works van being driven by Robert Liddell.
