COLMONELL’S Christmas Lights have been officially switched-on in the countdown to the big day.
Johnny McKechan of Colmonell Primary School was VIP of the event when he turned on the lights last Tuesday, December 5.
He was joined by the Provost of South Ayrshire, Councillor Helen Moonie.
Johnny McKechan took part in the Christmas poster competition to advertise the event as well as represent the school.
As the winner he got to do the honours and light up the village.
The celebration took place at 6.15pm at Colmonell village hall.
This was followed by carol singing round the village and a concert by Creetown silver band at 7.30pm.
There was tea/coffee/mulled wine and mince pies
And there was the opportunity to walk through the village and admire the festive decorations on display.
Commenting on their success one local resident said: “I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has made Colmonell look so festive.
“It is beautiful.”
