VILLAGERS turned out in large numbers to honour the fallen of two wars at a moving ceremony at the Barr War Memorial on Sunday, November 12.
The village had been preparing for the event with a week-long exhibition of items of memorabilia from wars throughout the centuries.
The exhibition included items from the Peninsular War through the two World Wars and including more recent conflicts such as Northern Ireland, The Falklands and Iraq.
The material was provided by local residents and was on show at the Barr Gallery before moving to the Village Hall for Sunday’s ceremony when it was viewed, following the laying of the poppy wreaths, by many of those who attended.
Local children also played a big part in the day’s Remembrance service.
The youngsters stepped forward to lay small wooden crosses at the memorial following the main ceremony.
