A CHARITY has benefitted from a £5,000 windfall.

Beautiful Inside & Out, a local suicide prevention charity, were donated the money from South Ayrshire Council.

The cheque is thanks to the help of bereaved families who have allowed metal implants to be recovered and then recycled after the cremation of a loved one at Masonhill Crematorium.

Following the suicide of her 13-year-old daughter Jenna, Pauline Moriarty set up the charity in 2013, which helps teenagers who may be struggling with mental health issues and also provides support for families who have lost a loved one to suicide.

South Ayrshire Provost, Helen Moonie, said: “Hopefully this donation will help others avoid the heartache that Pauline and her family have endured.”

Pauline added: “The funding will be used to provide support for troubled young people and bereaved families of suicide victims, through therapy, counselling and drop-in sessions.”
