AN APPLICATION to create the formation of boundary walls and associated landscape works to Turnberry Lighthouse has been approved.
The proposal, submitted by Covell Matthews Architects, will see the entrance to the iconic structure and Keepers’ House, which is currently used for being a junction to the site, to be replaced with boundary walls at the junction of Maidens Road.
The application site has the entrance to a single track road which provides access to the Lighthouse.
At present, the entrance is enclosed by way of a one metre high picket fence, with access to the application site is taken directly off the A719.
The siting and design of this development shows no significant impact on the amenities of neighbouring land or buildings.
The proposals are intended to replace the existing one metre high picket fence and the proposed wall will reach a height of approximately 1.6m, while the proposed entrance piers will reach a height of approximately two metres.
The wall and entrance piers will be finished in a white render and the landscape proposals will involve the planting of flowers and formation of two landscape bunds.
Due to the application being proposed near to a road, the Ayrshire Roads Alliance were contacted for any objections but they offered no objections.
It is stated that the applicant must ensure that the development is carried out in accordance with the approved plans unless otherwise granted.
