A MAYBOLE thug repeatedly punched a man on his head and body causing permanent disfigurement.
Stuart Grant, of Kirkland Street, admitted assaulting his victim in May last year at Allans Hill. The 43-year-old appeared before Sheriff Desmond Leslie at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.
Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor Steven Maxwell, said: "Mr Grant was the one that telephoned the police and made a 999 call and explained to them exactly what had happened.
"He and the complainer are long term friends and had been drinking together and had got themselves into a state. There had been some discussions about Mr Grant's drugs and he accepts full responsibility for his actions."
Grant has been placed on a community payback order for one year. He will also complete 220 hours unpaid work within six months.
