BALLANTRAE Farmer's Market is back and will be held every second Sunday from April to October.

The event relaunched on Sunday, April 9 at Craigiemains Home and Garden Centre on Main Street and will be back this Sunday, April 23 from 11am to 3pm.

Susan Crosthwaite of the Ballantrae Development Group has been organising the Markets in partnership with Craigiemains for the last 5 years.

She said: "Having established Ballantrae Farmers’ Markets as part of the village calendar, we are delighted that Craigiemains and Alex Sharpe of Ayrshire Stall Hire have joined forces to take over the running of the Markets.

"The role of the Development Group is to support local businesses, encourage tourism and develop unique events for locals, surrounding communities and visitors.

"The Ballantrae Farmers’ Markets ticks all of those boxes and we are delighted they will continue to offer great local food and drink more often."

Alex Sharpe, who also organises the new Troon Street Market and markets at Culzean and Dumfries House said: “I have been involved with Ballantrae Farmers’ Markets for some years now.

"They have brought a really positive reaction from customers and stallholders and we intend to continue that tradition.

"For the first Farmers’ Market of the year we have brought together a wider range of suppliers and producers to give customers an opportunity to taste and purchase great local produce."

Marie McCulloch of Craigiemains said: "We look forward to working in partnership with Alex Sharpe on the Ballantrae Farmers’ Markets.

"In addition to the goods on sale at the market, visitors will also find a coffee shop, gifts, books, garden supplies, a children’s play area, the miniature train and the Visitor Information Point containing ideas for visits to places of interest and activities within easy reach of Ballantrae."

The market will not run on June 11 this year to make way for the Festival of Food and Drink.
