TWO dogs, trapped on an embankment near Oswald House at Auchincruive, had to be rescued by fire crews recently.

It is understood at 1pm on Friday, July 22 emergency services were made aware of the incident and had to use a 9m extension ladder to gain access to the pets and retrieve them from their precarious situation.

Local Station Manager Derek Davidson said: "We are an organisation which not only attends fires, road traffic collisions and water rescues but also render humanitarian services and that includes assistance and rescue of animals where appropriate.

"The crew were delighted to be able to retrieve the dogs and return them safely to their grateful owner."
