THE 173rd annual Ayr County Show was staged as a one-day event for the third year.

It proved to be as popular as ever and more like the old Ayr show that everyone remembers fondly, with a great atmosphere and everyone buzzing with excitement.

Gate figures were considerably increased with a record attendance of around 10,500 people through the gate.

Secretary, Lorraine Murdoch, and chairman, Colin Mair, would like to thank everyone who helps make this event the success it is, including sponsors, advertisers, judges, stewards, members, stock exhibitors, trade stands and many others.

They also praised the committee, who all work tirelessly to set up and dismantle the event at the wonderful venue of Ayr Racecourse.  Mrs Murdoch added: “Special thanks to Emma Marley and her team for helping with the groundwork and making the show ground and its surrounding a spectacle to the eye.

“The show holds a raffle each year to help with funds and we would like to thank everyone who donated prizes and, of course, to everyone who bought tickets.

“Most importantly we would like to thank everyone for coming along and making the show he success it was.”
