FRIDAY saw South Ayrshire in the spotlight as the Olympic Torch visited eight towns and villages in the county.

All of South Ayrshire came out to cheer the torch on with both the young and the old, and everyone in between, joining in the Olympic spirit and cheering on the runners as they made their way through Ballantrae, Girvan, Turnberry, Maidens, Kirkoswald, Maybole, Alloway and Ayr.

Please see this week's paper for our eight page special on the once-in-a-lifetime event.
