Head of South Ayrshire Council, Bill McIntosh, stunned other councillors and members of his local community in Troon by making a public confession of his misdemeanour.

Troon Labour councillor, Phil Saxton, said this week: "I was at this week's meeting of the local Community Council and like everyone else was gobsmacked when the leader of South Ayrshire Council said that the police had called at his house because he drove off from Morrisons in Troon without paying for his petrol."
