ACCLAIMED best-selling author Peter May made a return to his former South Ayrshire homeland on Wednesday to launch his new book which is already selling like hot cakes.

The former Scotsman journalist and Take The High Road scriptwriter, who lived in Straiton for more than a decade, was in the Waterstone's bookstore in Ayr High Street to sign copies of The Lewis Man, the second part of a crime trilogy, featuring as its central character, Detective Inspector Fin Macleod.
