A FIRE broke out in one of the guest rooms of Ayr’s Horizon Hotel on Saturday night.

Emergency services attended the hotel on Saturday, June 30 at 11.33pm to help evacuate the guests who were staying overnight before the Ayrshire Retail Business Awards, taking place at the Racecourse.

A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 11.33pm on Saturday, June 30 to reports of a fire within a hotel on Esplanade, Ayr.

“Operations Control immediately mobilised a number of appliances and firefighters assisted in the evacuation of the building and extinguished the fire. There were no casualties. Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A picture of the event was posted via Scotland’s Business Awards social media page. 

Posting online they said: “We have just been evacuated from the Horizon Hotel in Ayr where an electrical fire broke out in a guests room. Everyone here is okay and all of the gear for the show is in one piece.”
