WORK to repair the A714 near Barrhill will be carried out next month by Hillhouse Quarry Group.

Barrhill Community Council expressed their concerns following work carried out that left a ‘bumpy surface’ and took the view that permanent repairs were required.

Cllr Ian Fitzsimmons previously told members that he had attended a meeting in Pinwherry with the Ayrshire Roads Alliance to discuss what could been done to address the situation.

Kevin Braidwood, Head of the Ayrshire Roads Alliance recently confirmed work would be carried out on the A714 at Corwar Farm.

That section of the road will be closed from Monday, July 2 until Wednesday, July 18 from 9.30am until 3.30pm each day. There will be a diversion route in place along the A77 then onto the A75 as per previous works in the area.

A letter from Kevin Braidwood to Barrhill Community Council said: “The Ayrshire Roads Alliance have planned to have information boards at key locations and there will be two VMS, one at Barrhill and the other at Newton Stewart, at least two weeks prior to work commencing.

“We also plan some permanent patching south of Barrhill while the closure is in place.”
