Cairn Primary’s P6/7 had a fantastic learning experience at Whitelee Windfarm recently.

In class, pupils have been finding out about different types of energy, the impact of fossil fuels and the benefits of renewables on our environment.

At Whitelee Visitor Centre, pupils took part in a science experiment to determine the best configuration of blades to produce the most power on a turbine.

They really enjoyed the site tour learning all about wind turbines and the benefits of wind as a renewable resource.

In the afternoon, pupils enjoyed time with the ranger finding out about local wildlife and taking part in further energy activities.

Pupils are now very confident when discussing renewable energy and how this links to our Global Goals of affordable and clean energy.

A huge thanks must go to all staff at Whitelee Windfarm for their enthusiasm and knowledge.
