The Year of Young People was celebrated in Ballantrae throughout the Easter Holidays.

Thanks to funding from the participatory budgeting session the Ballantrae Trust and partners mounted a programme of activities. On offer were outdoor activities at Culzean and archery at Ballantrae.

The programme also included a delightful puppet performance “The Wonderful World of Lapin” by Le Petit Monde organised by the Ayrshire Rural Touring Network.

Ballantrae Scout Group joined in with the Ayrshire Rotary Clubs’ Big Beach Clean and collected around 40 bags of rubbish and a mattress.
They camped overnight in a field outside Ballantrae and the next day went on a seven mile bike ride.

Andy McAlpine, organiser of the activities on behalf of the Ballantrae Trust said: “Our Ballantrae Year of Young People Project is an opportunity for our young people to show off their existing skills and learn some new ones.

“We are grateful to all of our partners for the memorable experiences they provided.”
