A MAN who attacked his wife and breached his bail conditions has been caged for five months.

David Armitage, now of Drumley Drive, Mossblown, repeatedly struck the woman on the head on September, 13 last year.

On September 18 he was granted bail but was subject to condition not to approach or contact her in anyway but phoned her on the same day.

Armitage repeatedly tried to enter their home after being told not to. The 43-year-old appeared before Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Defence solicitor Steven Maxwell said: "He needs to turn his life around. I have spoken to him and he could talk about it all day. He knows he is going to jail."

Addressing the dock, Sheriff Mactaggart said: "You have to be realistic about this. People have been trying to help you but you have to help yourself."

Campbell has been imprisoned for five months. His community payback order has been revoked.
