GIRVAN Coastal Rowing Club are delighted to have established a relationship with Girvan Academy who helped them design their new logo.

The club held their AGM at the end of January and looked back on a good year from April until December 2017.

Club members were involved in a number of rowing events, reaching all the way from Ireland in the West to Loch Tummel in the North and numerous places in between.

From rowing in fancy dress to competitive rowing and, at Irvine, all lit up like a Christmas tree, Girvan rowers have had a lot of fun.

The club participated in a variety of local events including Girvan Harbour Gala and the Lowland Gathering, and plan more for this year.

Members carried out important training on man overboard recovery techniques with Girvan lifeboat and  added two more qualified VHF radio operators to the team, as well as training a number of new rowers in the fun to be had in a skiff.

Rhona Anderson thanked members for all their efforts and, in recognition of their support and hard work since the club formed, the club unanimously voted to award Life Membership to Ian McClymont and his wife Elma.

The Club also wish to give a great big thank you to some amazing individuals and groups in our community.

The roll of honour comprises Simon Clanahan for helping with skiff launches; Girvan Lifeboat for training; Geoff Turner of Teal Trailers; Girvan and South Carrick Sports Hub; Carrick Sailing Club; South Ayrshire Council; Girvan Harbourmaster Tom McKee; Grant MacMorland for winter storage premises; Adventure Carrick and the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association.
