TWELVE people attended Girvan Town House to find out about a new initiative launched by What if...Girvan and Columba 1400.
They have teamed up to launch a new Community Leadership Academy for 2018, open to those living or working in South Carrick.
The Leadership Academy is looking for those with a passion for making a lasting impact in their local community.
Last week, people from across South Ayrshire visited the Town House in Girvan to find out more about the newly launched initiative and to meet those who have taken part in the residential experience themselves.
Ali Hunter, who works with Columba 1400 and has lots of connections across the community, was around to meet and chat with people who dropped in during the course of the day.
She said: “One of the best bits about working with Columba 1400 is meeting with people and being able to share stories about how taking part in a Columba 1400 experience really helps them to make and create positive change.
“To work alongside a person developing these skills that then have a positive impact on them as individuals, and also those around them, is so inspiring.”
One attendee said: “Chatting with the Columba 1400 team over a cup of coffee and getting the opportunity to talk with people who have experienced the programme has got me very interested in this new Community Leadership Academy – I’m definitely going to take part.”
The opportunity to sign up ends on Tuesday, February 20 with an initial group meeting on Thursday, March 1. For those who are interested but can’t make this event please contact sally@firstport.org.uk.
