Barr and District Burns supper was held on Friday, February 2 in the village hall and was attended by more than 80 guests. 

The supper was started with the winner of the Bill Dunlop memorial trophy form Barr primary 6 Thomas Denham who preformed “Too a Louse”, to the gathering gaining a rousing ovation for his performance. 

The address to the haggis was performed by Gordon Clark in his usual rousing manner which was then followed a traditional supper meal. T

he Proposer of the Immortal Memory to Robert Burns was Dr Peter Hughes OBE who provided a mix of song, verse and humour in his memory of Burns.

The toast to the Lassies was performed by Cameron Bell from Maybole who was humorous in his toast .

The reply was performed by Alec Ross from Stranraer who was witty in his address on behalf of the lassies.

The toast to Auld Scotia was delivered by Iain Doole from Kilwinning who touched on the other famous Scots in his toast. He delivered a rousing toast which was appreciated by the gathering.

They were entertained to many Burns songs performed by Linton McMillan and accompanied by Ian Muir, they were blessed with numerous fine songs and well received by all.

Tam O’Shanter, Holy Wullies Prayer and the Address to Beezlebub were performed by Ian Farrell from Cumnock, his passion for the works of Burns was delivered in his performance. 

Overall an excellent supper was enjoyed by all the Cronies.
