POLICE in South Ayrshire joined up with partners at a series of events to raise awareness on fraud, doorstep crime and the steps that can be taken to safeguard the public from falling victim to crime.

Between January 22 and January 26, over 150 people were provided with advice by police and partners, including South Ayrshire Council Trading Standards and Adult Support and Protection teams, at the events in Ayr Central Shopping Centre, Morrisons in Troon and Santander in High Street, Ayr.

The events were held in support of the national ‘Take Five Week’ which encourages everyone to take five to stop fraud.

PC Mark Wason, said: “These events provide a real opportunity to spend time with partners engaging with local residents and promoting the steps that can be taken to protect everyone in the community from fraud and doorstep crime.

"Throughout the week we posted updates on our local area Twitter feed with tips.”
