Unite will hold Carrillion a crisis meeting in Ayr tomorrow as workers’ wages run out.

Union demand that the Scottish government must act to end uncertainty on public sector contracts across Scotland.

Carrillion went into liquidation on January 15 putting tens of thousands of jobs at risk across the UK.

In Scotland the total job losses if the Carrillion supply chain is included will run to several thousand.

Unite Scotland understands the wages of those still working on former Carrillion contracts stopped on January 31.

They are holding crisis meetings for Carrillion workers at union offices across Scotland on Friday, February 2– in Ayr, Dundee, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.

There will be union reps at all the meetings. Legal advice and assistance will also be available for all those who attend. All Carrillion workers have been left in a limbo of uncertainty.

Unite officer Stevie Dillon said: “What is happening to these workers is totally unacceptable. They must not be left to pay the price for the Carrillion collapse.

"It was brought about by the greed and recklessness of the previous management – many of whom seem to be laughing all the way to the bank.

"All we have are questions. These meetings are set to assess where we are and demand answers from the administrators and Scottish Government.”

Unite the union can be found on 23 Barns Street, Ayr  KA7 1XB
