THE CARRICK Carnival of Light is set for its 13th year.

The River of Light lantern procession will come together on Saturday, October 21 in Girvan, at The Glendoune Centre on Piedmont Road from 6.30pm.

This year theme will be “Heids ‘n’ Hooses” with the official parade setting off at 7pm through the streets of Girvan to the sound of The Pokey Hats and will stop at the towns shorefront around the finale performance “Traces”. 

A spokesperson for the event, said: “This is a fantastic light show featuring fire sculptures and a pyrotechnic display. 

“Carrick Carnival of Light is open to all who wish to join in the community celebration and entrance is free. 

“This year’s event will be complemented by Carnival Club: two nights of music and comedy, with doors open at 7pm on Friday, October 20 and will see Trongate Rum Riots, The Barrstools, Robin Adams, and MC Adam the Greig perform at the Catholic Hall, Henrietta Street, Girvan.

“All lanterns should be collected before 4.30pm on Saturday, October 21 from the Lantern Café Dalrymple all spare lanterns will be taken to the Glendoune Centre where they will be handed out fro the parade. Anyone wishing to purchase a lantern for the parade can pick up a spare lantern this week at the café."
