KIDS from across Troon are being challenged to dig out their best disguises for a special Halloween event.

The shop Barassie Day To Day, in conjunction with the Troon Small Town With The Big Heart Facebook page are running Spoooky Trooon, which was launched earlier this month.

It involves youngsters dressing up in any outfit on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31 and either having it posted on the page or drop into the shop in Lang Road to have their pictures taken and put on to the site.

The top five will win a goodie bag and any children who drop into the shop will be given a sweetie.

On the evening, staff at the shop and customers will dress up and the prizes will be given out.

Shop co-owner Mandi Duncan said: "I have been preparing for this since July, it takes a long time to plan. Last year the staff dressed up as Superheroes and this time we're going to be St Trinian's schoolgirls. Hopefully children will be wearing a good selection of outfits.

"There were spiders, bats, vampires, pirates and skeletons among others last year, we have pictures on the wall. It will be interesting to see what we have this year.

"The shop is also being decorated with the likes of spiders, plastic bats and witches' broomsticks. I really enjoy Halloween and like getting dressed up - it's become a real community event. It's really the start of the countdown to Christmas. This is my second year here but I reckon the competition has been going for three to four years and has beemn a big success."
