THIRD Ayrshire Scouts, aided by the Beavers and Cubs, joined members of the of the Glendoune Community Association to do a major litter pick in the Glendoune area.

More than 15 bin bags of rubbish were collected on Saturday, September 9 by the group. After the litter pick the young volunteers tucked into a spread of goodies prepared by the Glendoune Association at the local Centre.

Mary Morland, Chairwoman of the Glendoune Community Association and a Member of the Parent Committee said: “It was a great day.

“The sun shone and the kids worked very hard and deserved their wee treat at the Centre afterwards. A great clean up for the Glendoune Estate.”
One of the areas the group tackled was the playpark. Just two days earlier, members of the Girvan Town Team raised concerns about shards of glass being a safety hazard.

Tricia Watts said: “There is broken glass in the play park.”

Chairwoman Irene Climie added: “This is a one off at the moment but hopefully is adults see the children picking up litter it will remind them of their conscience.
