A TROON man and his team will be taking part in this year’s charity banger.

Gordon Burnett, also known to many as Yeti, is off with five teammates on a five-day European charity banger trip in aid of Glasgow’s Taxi Outing on Thursday.

The screwball rally entails participants to buy a £750 or less motor vehicle and dress it up in any theme that they choose.

This year, Gordon and his team, Erica Griave, Tom Moffat, Alison Bentley, James Bafnall and Hannah McLeod, have two cars on the trip.

He said: “We will be setting off from Dover and organisers have camps set up for each night. This year, the stops from Dover will be France, Lake Como, Lichtenstein and then onto Luxembourg.

“Before, we dressed the car up as Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters and last year we went with an airplane theme.

"This year we’re going for a completely different theme."

Their theme will be emergency services and the team hope to rally around one of the most dangerous race tracks in Europe - the Nurburgring.

They are sponsored by AG Peters Garage, CCL Logistics and ScottPrint.
