A VETERAN, who is walking the coast of Britain, got into some difficulty in Girvan when his belongings went on fire.

Sam Doyle is making his way around the 7,700 mile coast line of Britain to support Veterans suffering from P.T.S.D (post traumatic stress disorder) and issues like this.

But on Sunday night he lost most of his belongings.

Taking to social media he said: "Had a major disaster last night, I waterproofed my bag and poncho with waterproofing spray in a can. Not realising it may be flammable, I lit a candle and my bag, boots and all of my belongings I've carried for three months were gone within minutes .

"I managed to save my sleeping bag, a pair of shorts and socks.

"I was lucky to escape with no harm to myself and with a radar key that was given to me by a friend back in Fort William, that saved me from the bad weather.

"I just need a rucksack and waterproof trousers.... The kind locals of Girvan have located me and donated food, boots, warm clothes to continue my journey up to Ayr

"If anyone can help it would be much appreciated."
