RESIDENTS are furious over the approval for another car wash in Troon.

Locals near Duke Street, site of the development, have expressed their concerns over noise pollution and the idea of another car wash in a residential area.

On the planning application on South Ayrshire Council’s website it states that the reason for the green light for the development is that “the siting and design of the development hereby approved is considered to accord with the provisions of the development plan and there is no significant adverse impact on the amenity of neighbouring land and buildings.”

The site which will be utilised is currently waste land, fenced and gated with overgrown weeds and the plan is to clear the ground and concrete it, allowing for a drainage system.

The developers hope to open the front area for entry and exit points whereby cars will be able to come to get washed and valeted.

Mr Meikle of Union Street, Troon objected to the proposal, before it was approved.

He said: “Regarding the proposed car was at Dukes Road, Troon, there is already an established car wash in the area – there is no need for another one.

“There is enough traffic and noise in the area so myself and other residents are against the proposal.”

Other residents who live in the vicinity agree with Mr Meikle and have since disagreed with the go ahead.

One said: “I am absolutely horrified about it - my issue is the lack of privacy because there will be all sorts strangers looking around Union Street seeing us putting out our bins and so on.

“The other issue is from the noise from the water compressor from the car wash and from the car radios.

“There is already a car wash on Duke Road and at Morrisons – I brought this up in a letter that I wrote.

“I don’t object to businesses in principle but this will be outside.

“We will hear all that noise that will come from it and we will step out of our front doors and there it will be.”
