A MAN has been imposed with a good behaviour order after punching his partner in the face.

Calum McLarty, of Castle Croft Dalmellington, was found to have assaulted his partner at his home address on June 24, by punching her and causing swelling around her nose and temple.

The 24-year-old appeared before Sheriff John Montgomery at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Depute Fiscal, Kevin Jarvis, explained: “On the evening of the said date at around 9pm, a witness had come home to her house address and seen the accused and the complainer after looking after the witness’s house.

“They were seen to heavily under the influence of alcohol.

“They both ended up at a neighbouring property, however, the accused told the complainer not to come back to the house where they were.

“They were seen to be arguing in the street and the accused stood in front of the complainer.

“He hit her face and the complainer when back to the friend’s house with bleeding and swelling around her nose and her temple area.

“An ambulance was called and took the complainer to Ayr Hospital, where she was later released and on June 30, police traced the accused and he was detained.”

Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor Mr Forbes, said: “A substantial amount of alcohol was taken by both parties which led them to argue in the street.

“Mr McLarty is very very sorry and accepts wholly that he was out of order.

“He admitted to what he had done from the outset and he has no previous convictions and has not been in trouble before.

“My client appears as a first time offender so could receive release on good behaviour.”

Sheriff Montgomery deferred sentence for McLarty to be of good behaviour.
