AN ARRAY of Girvan gardens will be open to the public next month.
On Sunday, July 9 locals can enjoy six open gardens. It’s all part of the Scotland’s Gardens event.

The Gardens of Golf Course Road face the Firth of Clyde and Ailsa Craig at one end, with views towards the Isle of Arran at the other end of the road.

All the gardens are challenged by wind and salt spray, however they have a great variety of herbaceous plants and shrubs.

Visitors to the gardens will also be able to admire the Community Payback Garden, rescued from a derelict site next to the Golf Clubhouse with support and funding from Orders issued by the criminal justice system.

And garden buffs arriving from the north harbour area can stroll past the McCreath Gardens’ rather splendid rockery at Newton Kennedy, recently renovated by a team of local volunteers.

With funding from the Rotary and from South Ayrshire Council, these volunteers have transformed this popular Harbour side walking path.

As an added bonus, Girvan Golf Clubhouse is hosting the teas for this Scotland’s Gardens event. The Clubhouse is conveniently situated near the gardens for a welcome sit-down and a cuppa.

Opening times on Sunday, July 9 are from 1pm until 5pm. Admission cost £4 with children under 12 free entrance.

Beneficiaries include Macmillan Nurses who receive 20%, Erskine Hospital receives 20 per cent, with the net remaining to SG Beneficiaries.
