SUPPORTERS of Greenan Castle are confused after discovering the drone survey they thought was previously completed, has not actually taken place.

Residents were informed previously that Historic Environment Scotland had visited Greenan, alongside members of the Alloway and Doonfoot community council, at the end of last year.

At the time then Cllr Grant said: "They produced a drone survey as well as a geological survey. They have shown interest in the castle which is iconic."

But noone had ever seen the results. At their most recent public meeting Chairwoman Marilyn Dalgleish confirmed that the a drone had not taken place.

She said: "Historic Environment Scotland got in touch with cllr Siobhan Brown to inform her of this mistake. We had been told that the inspection had taken place. The organisation says that they will certainly look into completing one."

Ian Duncanson commented: "I am looking forward to their findings."

It is not yet clear when the study will take place but those who live near the castle are hopeful that a resolution can be reached.
