FIVE pigeons have been spotted in Girvan’s brand new Quay Zone it has been revealed.

The leisure centre does not officially open until the end of the month but has been fully functional since the end of April.

The problem was reported to members of the Girvan Town Team last week.

Tony McManus said: “There is an issue with pigeons getting into the new swimming pool facility.

“I saw five go in. I don’t know how but they are getting through the building but they are. We do not want the same thing to happen to the Quay Zone that has happened to the old cinema building.”

The former cinema has been described as Ayrshire’s biggest pigeon hole.

Cllr Alec Clark, said: “I was not aware that there was a problem but now that I am we will be able to get in touch the contractors and get them to sort it out.”

The Quay Zone will officially open on Saturday, June 24.
