AYR and Prestwick Airport train stations will be benefiting from new scheduling information screens by the end of summer.

Rail passengers across the country will see new information screens that are brighter, clearer, and also show real-time data for connecting transport, such as buses, ferry's and flights.

Ayr's railway station has gained additional bus information on its screens and Prestwick Airport's new gain is yet to be announced.

A total of 94 new digital customer information screens are being brought to 29 stations across Scotland by the ScotRail Alliance, and many will also display nearby bus, ferry or flight information as well as train times.

The new displays are part of ongoing investment to improve Scotland’s stations, with last month seeing 100 new electric car charging spaces and over 40 new station shelters were announced by the ScotRail Alliance.

Ian McConnell, the ScotRail Alliance’s programmes and transformation director, said: "We are working hard to improve and renew stations across our network.

"Customer information is hugely important, and the more detail - the better.

“Our aim has always been to make to support environmentally-friendly travel across Scotland, well beyond the end of the railway tracks.”
