RESIDENTS of Barrhill have expressed their concerns at the state of Station Road was left in by SPEN.

SP Energy Network had been carrying out trenching work for cable installation recently.

But it caused disruption to neighbours and drivers who were subject to noise, dust, and litter. When the work was over trenches were left uneven and stone dykes damaged.

Heavy rainfall brought large quantities of stones onto the road, sewage appeared to be in the water running down Gowlands Terrace and drains were completely blocked.

The issue was discussed at a community council meeting. Members of the public attended the meeting to state their worries.

It was noted the illegally parked vehicles left large quantities of mud on the pavements in Main Street.

One member of the public said she had received compensation as a 'good will gesture' from SPEN for damage done to an overhead line, affecting computer work after several months of pursuing this.

She advised that any complaints should be followed through.

SPEN will be holding two consultation events in order to present their proposals and obtain feedback from the local community on the routing of the overhead line from Stranoch wind farm to the existing Mark Hill substation.

The events will take place on: Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2 in the Barrhill Memorial Hall from 2pm.
