A ROAD accident on the A77 this morning has left a motorcyclist in hospital.

The 19-year-old driver of the Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Scania lorry which both were travelling northbound. The incident happened at around 7:50am this morning. 

The driver of the bike was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where he remains for treatment for injuries to his leg and shoulder. However, hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

The driver of the lorry, is said to be shaken but not injured.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 19-year-old man is the subject of a report to the PF for alleged road traffic offences."

The road had several tailbacks this morning causing rush hour chaos. The road re-opened at 9am.
