POLICE officers are appealing for information after there was a break-in at a Vet's surgery in Ayr.
Police believe the premises of County Vets in Heathfield Road, was broken into sometime between 11pm on Monday and 7am today.
A quantity of drugs, used for treating animals, has been stolen.
Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are checking the surrounding area for any CCTV footage which could be used in progressing the enquiry.
Sergeant Lynsey Booth said:
“Our enquiry is at an early stage but I’m appealing to local people in the area who may have seen or heard something which they thought was a little suspicious. We’re not sure what time the break in occurred so I would ask people to think about anything they may have noticed late last night around 11pm and into the early hours of Tuesday morning. If you have any information, please do pass it on.”
Officers are warning members of the public in the Ayr, Prestwick and Troon areas, that the drugs stolen, if taken incorrectly or without medical supervision, could be extremely dangerous and could even prove fatal.
If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the medication or any knowledge regarding this matter, please contact officers at Troon Police Office on 101.
