POLICE are looking for a man who threatened teenagers with a knife before making off with a ten pound note in Ayr.

The incident happened at 12:30am on Tuesday, November 29. The 17 and 18 year olds were walking through Morrisons car park at Castlehill Road in Ayr. They used the ATM at the shop then headed toward Station Bridge.

As they reached Market Inn, they were approached by the man. He allegedly called on the two friends to stop before allegedly pullling out a knife.

The man allegedly stole £10 off of the two men and headed towards the Castehill Road area. Although unharmed, the two men are said to be shocked by the incident.

The man is described as a white male aged around 20-25 years-old. He is said to be a slim build and is described as around 5ft9’’ although this is not confirmed. He is described as having short brown hair, uniform in length, which appeared to have been shaved all over and allowed to grow back in.

At the time of the incident, Police have confirmed that the suspect was wearing a black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and black training shoes with reflective details. The suspect covered the lower half of his face with a lighter coloured scarf.

Constable Danny Ver Berne, Community Investigation Unit in Ayr said: “Although uninjured, the two young men were understandably shocked to have been robbed at knifepoint.

“We are doing all we can to trace the man responsible and to ensure that he is held to account for his actions. We have been conducting door to door enquiries and analysing available CCTV.

“Two cars were seen entering the Morrisons car park around 12:35am. One appeared to be a hatchback type vehicle, similar to a Ford Focus. From what we have been able to make out so far, on entering the car park, their presence caused the suspect to flee the area.

“I would appeal to the drivers of those vehicles to speak to police. You may have witnessed the suspect running in the direction of Castlemilk Road. I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed a man matching this description.
