A GOLF net put up to protect high value houses near Lochgreen Golf Course in Troon has caused outrage amongst community councillors.

At the recent Troon Community Council meeting, member Dawn Barr took the case to South Ayrshire councillor Phil Saxton.

She said: “I believe you received an email by Lochgreen about an apparatus to stop golf balls going in houses or gardens.

“It is a complete eyesore and a disgrace as this has been constructed by South Ayrshire Council and not the owner of the houses.”

The golf netting is situated on the 16th tee on the Lochgreen Golf Course and protects houses and gardens on Ottoline Drive behind the golf course.

The council have stressed it is a temporary measure.

Jill Cronin, Head of Enterprise, Development and Leisure at South Ayrshire Council said: “We have put up netting at Lochgreen Golf Course after a number of complaints were received.

“The net is a temporary measure and we will be working with residents to investigate a longer term solution.”
