A MAN has been caught for allegedly driving five times over the limit on Ayr's Dalblair Road.

It is claimed that around 8.15pm on Friday, September 23 the 52-year-old was stopped by officers who were on patrol.

He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol as well as driving without a valid policy of insurance.

The Ayr Advertiser Series understands that as police were on patrol they were became aware of the vehicle and had reason to check it because it had no insurance. They then noticed a strong smell of alcohol from the driver. 

The driver has been released on undertaking and will be due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court in due course. At the time the paper went to press, there were no updates on the situation.
