THE Peter Walsh fund that has served Troon's senior citizens for the past 30 years is now coming to an end.

Ivy Cottage which is the base for the Troon Senior Citizens Welfare Committee, broke the news at the Troon Community Council meeting this month that the fund which has helped create day-trips, lunches and Christmas events for senior citizens in Troon is coming to an end.

Erica Williamson, a member of the Troon Community Council and the Troon Senior Citizens Welfare said: "The Peter Walsh fund is now just about finished. We might with no promises be able to do a Christmas lunch for elderly citizens.

"It has lasted 30 years which is incredible. The Ivy Cottage group should get a massive thank you from the community for their hard work".
She added: "As a whole, Ivy Cottage is thriving."
