AN Australian man has raised almost £3,000 for Children with Cancer UK has passed through Ayrshire on his monumental task to walk the British coast.

Josh Hicks, from Mount Compass, South Australia, walked up the Ayrshire coast recently and is now currently walking down the coast of Mull and Kintyre at the time of writing and is doing it all for his friend Wesley Murray back home in Australia who is fighting his own cancer battle.

Speaking of his motivation to take up this 6,500 mile hike Josh said: “I am doing this because I want to do it but mostly because of my friend back home in Australia, Wesley.

“He was diagnosed with testicular cancer and has had been through the mill.

“I told him I was doing this walk and I asked him ‘what charity should I do this for?’ and he said ‘Children with Cancer UK’ as well as charity back home in Australia.”

Josh passed through Ayrshire last week and described the scenery in this part of the world as ‘beautiful’. He said: “It was a great experience. The scenery in Ayrshrie were just fantastic and so beautiful.

“Walking up the coast and seeing the Ailsa Craig and the isle of Arran was really beautiful.”
