ONE of the largest voluntary organisations in the country is launching a new service in South Ayrshire called Good Neighbours.
The Royal Voluntary Service delivers practical services through the power of volunteering to en-sure older people can lead fulfilled and rich lives as they choose.
Blair McGeoch co-ordinator Royal Voluntary Service, said: "We are proud to serve individuals and communities across Ayrshire and as part of this commitment we are launching a new service in South Ayrshire called Good Neighbours.
"Our Good Neighbours service aims to reduce isolation, enable an older person to have ownership of their life and participate in social activities within their community. We provide support to anyone over the age of 65."
The organisation hosted a series of recruitment events this month to allow potential volunteers to come along and chat to staff about the opportunities available and make an application.
They recognise that volunteering is an ideal way for people to make use of spare time to meet new people, build confidence and skills for work and become involved in their local communities.
