PUPILS from Marr College in Troon have teamed up with Stewart Milne Homes to help showcase what life is like in a typical family home in 2016 by planting a time-capsule.

First year pupils were joined by Stewart Milne representatives at the Earl's Green development to officially plant the capsule, which contains items such as their favourite keepsakes, family photographs, childhood toys, old sport strips and school mementos to give the next generation a taste of life in 2016.

The time-capsule will remain sealed and buried at Earl’s Green for 50 years, at which point it will be uprooted and re-opened.

Elaine McGregor-Sloman, headteacher at Marr College said: “It’s been fantastic to be involved in the time-capsule project with Stewart Milne Homes. We believe from an educational perspective that it’s important for future generations to see what life was like for families in 2016.

"To be able to get some of our S1 pupils involved and down to Earl’s Green to plant the time-capsule has been a great learning experience for them.”

Marlyn Boal, sales and marketing director of Stewart Milne Homes added: “Creating a sense of community and integrating our developments into the local area is vital and Earl’s Green is no exception.

"We are always keen to develop our relationships with the local schools and are delighted to welcome the pupils from Marr College to the development to plant their time-capsule.

I would like to personally thank the pupils and staff at Marr College for all their hard work and contributions to the project.”
