THREE vehicles burst into flames in the space of five days in Mossblown, Ayr and Troon recently.

A man sustained minor burns to his hands and head after a van was found alight on Sandyford Road, Mossblown. 

The incident took place just after 10pm on Thursday, May 5 and the victim of the ordeal had to be taken to Ayr Hospital by ambulance for treatment to his injuries.

The fire was extinguished using a high pressure hosereel jet and compressed air foam.

Two private cars in Ayr were destroyed by fire at Thorneyflat Place on Saturday, May 7. The fire brigade rushed to the scene after reports of a car fire in the town in the early hours of the morning.

There were concerns that the flames were so severe that the fire had spread to an adjacent house. Fire crews forced entry to the property to double check but the fire had not advanced any further.

Due to the circumstances of the blaze, which was brought under control by a high pressure hose reel jet, this incident is currently under investigation.

A van on Troon's B749 was completely destroyed by a fire on Tuesday, May 10.

Worried members of the public repeatedly contacted the fire brigade to alert them of the severity of the situation.

But by the time they got to the scene the vehicle was already ruined.
