A WOMAN who admitted supplying a controlled drug to an acquaintance has been released on bail.

Margarite Shaw, of Main Street Ayr pleaded guilty to produce diazapam, a class C drug at her home address on April, 7 2016 Mathew Robertson.

Shaw appeared before Sheriff John Montgomery at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 3. 

The court heard that on April 7 police observed Robertson near her property. When they approached him he said he was waiting for his brother but did not know where his brother was coming from.

But police found this suspicious and found a number of itemsThey observed Shaw coming towards the property. She had tablets on her which Robertson believed to be the Valium he had ordered, which were then recovered by officers.

A warrant was obtained for the home and a search carried out. Shaw stated to police she was giving Robertson a loan of some Valium but the blue tablets were found to be diazapam. 

Speaking on behalf of Shaw, Alistair Cameron, said: "She has had trouble for eight years and has shown stupidity. 

"There have been few incidents concerning her record with drugs of a high value. She has no other outstanding issues and pleaded guilty at the first outset. There has been question about her ability to do unpaid work."

Speaking directly to the accused Sheriff Montgomery said: "I am going to give an opportunity to get a report from your GP about your ability to do unpaid work."

Sentence was deferred.
